About

About me

Originally from Widnes, Cheshire, my journey has been a tapestry of diverse experiences and passions. I studied English Literature at Leeds University, where I nurtured my love for storytelling and the written word. Following my graduation, I moved back to the North West and embarked on a successful 20-year career in structural engineering. This period of my life was marked by precision, creativity, and the satisfaction of building tangible structures that stand the test of time.

However, the call of my creative roots remained ever-present. After two decades in engineering, I decided to take a leap of faith and pursue my true passion, art. This transition allowed me to blend my technical background with my artistic vision, resulting in a unique style that bridges the gap between the analytical and the imaginative.

About the Collection

The Strata series is a compelling exploration of the intersection between geological formations and human intervention. This collection of ceramic pieces draws inspiration from the earth's layered history, reflecting the powerful forces that shape our planet. Each piece in the Strata series embodies the inherent human impulse to adapt and sculpt the environment, mirroring the ways in which we leave our mark on the landscape. The process of creating with clay, grounded in the elemental forces of earth and water, offers a powerful way to engage with the themes of time, place, and history that inform the work.

Furthermore, these works celebrate the fundamental act of creation, transforming raw earth materials into objects of artistic expression and utility, a practice deeply rooted in human history and culture. The Strata series invites contemplation on our relationship with the earth, both as a source of inspiration and as a medium for human creativity.
